Universal Gems, is a 4th Generation Business started by Shri Kesrimalji Kothari and furthered by Shri Ghisilalji Kothari & . Shri Bhimrajji Kothari. Shri Bhimrajji Kothari was at the helm of the overseas operations which first opened in Hong Kong, in 1961.

In 2011, Universal Gems will celebrate 50 years in Hong Kong.

With a small beginning in Burma, Universal Gems is now spread with offices in Hong Kong, Thailand & India, with associates located across the globe.

Universal Gems has become full fledged Jewellery maker, making only exquisite handmade Jewellery pieces of unique designs and distinctions. Today not only we supply loose gemstones to the trade and customers but also are supplying one of a kind Jewellery pieces to major retailers in Hong Kong and the world over. This back-up to them has provided a solid backbone for their retail operations.

The company currently employs 28 people in the managerial, design and production capacities. The companies are members of the International Colored Stones Association, The Hong Kong Diamond Importers Association, The Thai, Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council. The directors are graduates of the Gemological Institute of America.
